If you're wondering what sort of things would be useful offers of help for others, you're not alone!
Many people who have signed up to Our Monmouthshire recently have told us 'they don't have anything to offer', not realising that their 'unskilled' offer to phone someone for a chat is exactly what a lonely person needs.
Offers on the timebank can be very simple, you may not have an elaborate talent that you could offer to teach or share with others, but we can guarantee that you'll have something useful to offer others in your community.
We're interested in hearing your ideas-what sort of 'offers' could people post?
Here are our quick ideas:
Offer to take out someone's waste or recycling on collection days
Offer to collect shopping or prescriptions (where safe to do so)
Offer to have telephone calls in the evening to prevent loneliness and isolation
Offer to help with gardening or other DIY needs (where safe to do so)
Offer to give online tutoring to young people who require additional support
Offer online health and fitness tuition, or over the phone fitness
Offer online arts and craft type activities, or inspiration
Offer advice and guidance (if you're a trained specialist in something)
Offer to make unique 'Happy Birthday' messages (cheer up little ones who may have parties cancelled etc – or for anyone else who may be celebrating alone)
People could offer to read stories to children who don't get the chance to be read to very often or at all.
You could offer to do this over the phone (book buddy) or record yourself doing this if your smart phone/tablet has a recording app :)
When you rate an idea, we calculate the most or least popular ideas using a simple scoring formula (+2, +1, 0, -1, -2). Please be honest - your rating is important but also anonymous.
